    Job Title: Field Training Officer Paramedic

    FLSA: Non-Exempt

     

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The FTO provides pre-hospital care staff with the support, information, education and training necessary to provide high-quality pre-hospital and inter-facility care. Field Training Officers must possess the ability to perform thorough employee evaluations. Field Training Officers are able to quickly and efficiently communicate solutions for mprovement to employees in the evaluation/remediation process. Field Training Officers act as a resource to all field and management staff that has clinical, policy, or protocol questions.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Communicate company goals and standards of excellence through exemplary daily job performance, attitude, initiative, and demeanor.
    • Make recommendations to the Clinical Education Manager to improve various aspects of the training and QA/QI programs (This may include changes in specific study materials, technology, and standard operating policies, procedures, education and training).
    • Performs routine chart reviews to ensure that the highest clinical standards are maintained and documentation is accurate and complete.
    • Attends FTO meetings and training programs.
    • Performs ongoing field evaluations to ensure all proper adherence to medical protocols, operational procedures and safety practices.
    • Coaches the trainee to safely provide patient care on scene and during transport for emergency and non-emergency calls
    • Orients new employees to AMR
    • Coaches the trainee to drive the emergency vehicle safely with and without patients
    • Coaches the trainee to conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle
    • Coaches the trainee to complete patient care and trip documentation and other necessary paperwork
    • Tests trainee’s knowledge and skills
    • Accurately documents trainee’s performance
    • Formulates performance improvement plans for trainees
    • Delivers instructional content during initial orientation, continuing education or remedial courses
    • Leads one or more specialty teams (i.e. CCT, Special Events, Disaster, etc.)
    • Provide classroom instruction in a variety of pre-hospital care related subjects for internal and external stakeholders
    • Represents the company to patients and the general public
    • Maintains required certifications

    NONESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    Education/Licensing/Certification:

    High School Diploma or General Education Diploma, current State Paramedic Certification, current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification, current AHA ACLS card, current Driver’s License

     

    Experience:

    One year Paramedic field experience in the respective operation, 1 – 2 years previous Paramedic experience preferred, prior EMS teaching/mentoring/preceptor experience preferred.

     

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, proficient understanding of AMR’s Policies and Procedures and medical protocols, geography, and AMR Health and Safety Manual.
